2004 model, standard XLT trim in Oxford White Clearcoat color/colour. Two were used to run around the race track (probably the first time a Expedition has seen a race track, poor thing ![]() to see which would run out of fuel first. To ensure equality, both Expeditions were purposefully drained of their fuel and were refilled with the same amount of fuel. One Expedition was run with A/C on at full capacity with windows fully closed. The other Expedition was run with the A/C off and the windows fully open. Result: The Expedition with A/C on at full capacity with windows fully closed got better fuel mileage therefore winning the test. The other Expedition with the A/C off and the windows fully open ran out of fuel faster. |

A side note: Its funny to see a Expedition running around a race track, something you won’t see everyday. In fact they had trouble with the Continental ContiTrac All-Season tires which came as the standard tire on the Expedition. The tires were designed for all-round performance including being able to support heavy towing. High-speed track use is something the tires were not designed for. As a result tire ware became rapid and severe forcing Jamie and Adam to reduce the speed of the vehicles, to prevent a blow-out. -- Last edit: 2009-03-11 07:38:25 |
