I read that it had a Volkswagen 1200 industrial engine and hydraulics as used in a forklift truck? But I guess there were 3 or 4 made for the movie, perhaps with different motors? |

To my knowledge (not verified yet) there were 8 Hannibals built. At least one had a VW engine. This car is or was, if my recollection is correct, part of the Petersen Museum. I have this pic of the car that could be from that collection. Far left, prof. fate's torpedo is visible... ![]() |

Will be for sale on auction on the 12th August here: http://www.rmauctions.com/ The left overs of this bankrupcy museum http://www.rmauctions.com/default.cfm?SaleCode=AL12 have to be thrown out. No reserve price, so maybe you can make some good catches (@DynaMike: there's a 1938 Traction and @dsl: an a Humber Super Snipe), but as it seems, none of the vehicles is in mint showroom condition. On a closer view you will see, that many of them are more or less just wrecks. ![]() Well, this museum is close since a couple of years and in its last life-days obviously there wasn't money left for maintenance and care... |

I had the pleasure to see one of these at the Stahls Automotive Collection in New Baltimore, Michigan on October of 2023 alongside one of the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cars. |
