![]() Made for RI as specifications may be differed than other markets, such as its JDM counterpart. For a local refresher, aside my previous contributions of these cameo-ing in Message Man (2018) and Mencuri Raden Saleh (2022); this was once one of a Gen Y and Gen Z favorite here locally. Often colloquially nicknamed here as the "Shark Galant" (Galant Hiu), or I like to refer this generation as the "Shark-era Galant", due to its front end resembling a shark's head. However, the eighth generation didn't came here until 1998, two years after its initial global debut. Also, why [EA5A]? @Lucivex - Was Krama Yudha Kusuma Motor (KKM) once also build these locally for our market, like the preceding Catfish-era model (seventh generation)? Wikipedia did list this but according to what sources they've taken? |

@RushCars24ID Local assembly is confirmed for both Galant AND Kuda/Freeca. Yes, these were a huge knockout hit for many Gen Xs and Gen Zs but more so for Gen Xs because there were stories from the late 90s and early 00s that these things could outrun traffic police because they have huge power and torque in Indonesian terms. How did I know this? Well...a certain person I know have outrun traffic cops in this very car and he could genuinely feel how much power and torque this landshark had. ![]() Anyways...important part down here. ST was the only trim for Indonesian built Galants and only the VR-4 models were imported from Japan. A wagon was proposed but never went into fruition. https://www.mobilmotorlama.com/2019/12/50-tahun-mitsubishi-galant.html https://www.mobilmotorlama.com/2019/04/mitsubishi-galant-st-hiu.html And yes, this and the previous gen "Lele" Galant were indeed locally assembled. Here's an official statement from Mitsubishi that I found from serayamotor.com which clarifies the discontinuation of the Galant and Kuda in May 2005. And as for the [EA5A] chassis code, it is correct because the Indonesian 8th gen Galants featured one engine option, the 2.5L SOHC 6A13 V6. |
