Scroll down this, Pic 13 says 1970s based on Fordson tractor, but it must be older.

From this thread. Seems late 50s so fairly new for film.

Might not surprise anyone but I am a big contributor to Classic Plant and Machinery. :)

I mulled over the D3 and D4 options thinking it may be to do with capacity.
However on the page linked above there is a instruction book pictured giving the catchy full title of this machine as-
Chaseside 3 3/4 Yard Hi Speed Dumper ( Model D3 and D4).

So capacity the same , but there were two fixed options of driving position either facing forward or facing backward ( over skip) so my guess that is the difference between a D3 and D4.

Living as I do quite close to Cannock Chase, I am always wondering why they chose the name, when these vehicles were built nowhere near Staffordshire.

For any who thought that Staffordshire was all pits and potbanks.

Cheers. I suppose it’s hardly surprising that the term “Chase” pops up fairly frequently in English place names. AI definition: - “The word "chase" comes from the Middle English word chace, which means "a tract of ground for breeding and hunting wild animals”.”

That’s why there are so many deer about!

Well worth a read for those of a historical bent. I have lived most of my life either within, or close to, Cannock Chase.
