Our 2nd Arkley SS based on Sprite/Midget, with fibreglass front and rear ends. S had standard wheels, SS wide wheels. Sold as conversions for presumably rusty donors, or for a time as brand new fully-built turn-key. Kits still available now. Memory slightly skew, but I also remember someone doing Cortina 1600 GT engine transplants into Spridgets in early 70s which I thought was Arkley but no mention found. Turns out it was Atlantis - most were Midgets, but a few Sprites. Proper conversion and sold new fully built - some impressed reports - https://www.spridgetguru.com/Autocar052071.html , https://www.spridgetguru.com/HotCar0771.html "The Atlantis has all these good points of the Sprite/Midget range with the added bonus of more power and sweet gear box. It handles well and should be regarded as not just a modified car but a complete production vehicle that offers a lot to the man who likes the style and character of the Spridget but wants more power-and doesn't want to go to the much larger MG B to get it." |
