HM Series |

1966-1977 GMC HM-J "J" is according wikipedia meant single axle models and "H" meant tandem models. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Brigadier -- it's under background. (I don't know how it would be listed as a model name though. So the "-J" is a guess on my end. Just trying to be as specific as I can be.) The single headlamps seems to only have existed on the MH9500s which began in 1971 and ended in 1977. ^ I wouldn't trust wiki. Anyone can edit that and more so on larger trucks the data is not always as accurate as more common models. Do you have any other credible sources beside Wiki to confirm your post? |

I don't even think HM-Series is an actual thing to be honest. In almost all of the brochures and other advertisements these trucks made by GM they are simply known as 7500, 8500, and 9500 series trucks. ![]() ![]() Funnily enough, if you look-up GMC HM-Series on google the only thing that pops up are IMCDB listings. If anything, I think these are actually called MH-Series, rather than HM-series. Not sure where this mix-up happened, but if you look-up GMC MH-Series on google you actually get trucks that have HM in them. -> GMC MH-Series? |

Hold the brakes on that. HM was the series of gasoline powered 7500 trucks with two axles. Looks like HE was for the 9500 with two axles. And JM/JE were for the tandem models. Diesels used HJ/HV for 7500-2ax and HN/HI for 9500-2ax and J for the similar tandem. Got to read more than just the covers: ![]() |

Thank goodness someone noticed that! I don't actually own physical copies of the 95-Series brochures, and I was only doing research on Diesel models, not Gasoline ones. For future reference here are the full spec-sheets for anyone to use: https://www.autominded.net/brochure/gm/9500GMC%2010.jpg - https://www.autominded.net/brochure/gm/9500GMC%2011.jpg -- Last edit: 2024-03-31 09:39:51 |
