 Stuntman A.J. Bakunas unfortunately died doing a record-breaking stunt for this film. He jumped from the top of the building onto an airbag meant for drops that are only half that height. He tore through the bag almost as soon as he hit it and witnesses reported hearing the ground shake when he hit. He died the next day due to the impact having been powerful enough to cause irreparable damage to the tissue in both lungs. Doctors said that the strength of the impact had caused the cells to actually disintegrate.

The shot in the film of George Kennedy's character falling to his death was actually the footage of Bakunas' fatal fall. The film was also dedicated to his memory. Poor guy was only 27 years old, the same age I am :(
