Never seen a Taunus with quads before - was more a Cortina thing. Looks good on it, though.

Curiously, the first thumbnail provided by Gamer shows that it has round quad headlights

What makes it a Taunus over Cortina then?

I was just thinking the same thing.

Simple. Cortina has a distinct coke-bottle body which is toned down on the Taunus. The taillights and tail panels are also different.

Compare: Taunus - Cortina

I was thinking it was more of a trim thing. Generally I knew that the Cortina was chiefly destined for RHD markets, but I would have imagined some countries with more independent traffic (Portugal, Greece) might have received LHD Cortinas as well.

Cortinas and Tauni were sold simultaneously in Norway and Denmark, effectively competing against each other.

Even in Benelux, Switzerland and Austria.

It's a weird one - definitely Taunus as demonstrated. At first glance grille looks like Australian Cortina Mk3 with ordinary mesh and no black highlights. But that doesn't work as it and the bonnet have a narrow snout where Cortina was much wider. Also the rear bumper has been replaced - normal Taunus had a lower cut-out to avoid blocking the plate, but this is straight, and has lights on top surface. Can't find a better pic to compare, but is it an Italian bumper. And can I see a made-for-I indicator in front wing?? Although not sure if front indicators are white enough ...

Yes - both countries got quirky Cortinas - Portugal because they built them there, and Greece got unique tax break Cortinas with 1098cc
