Speaking of which, shouldn't these early Berkeleys on IMCDb have 'Sport' in model name and [SA322], [SE328] and [SE492] in chassis code?
B60 and B65 seems to be retrospective (and therefore incorrect) nomenclature. Given that the 328 and the 492 had the same body - maybe we should default this one to 328?
@s13a, @dsl: what do you think?

I'll admit, I'm not quite knowledgeable about these, so @dsl is certainly going to be more helpful.

Either way, from what I've gathered online :

1956 US ad - an earliest model with these headlights. Oddly enough it mentions 328cc Excelsior engine. I think in 1956, there was only 322cc engine option, so the date might be a little bit wrong. Perhaps considered as 1957 model in the States.

1958 US ad - a model with the revised headlights (for the US market, at least). Those export-spec headlight pods ('58) might have been a dealer option as there are a few US brochures dating from 1958 which show them with 'normal' headlights.

The only time I've found 'Sports' mentioned is in the road-tests, like this one from 1957 (UK). Most US brochures simply advertise them based on their engine capacity or their body-style (roadster, coupe), from what I can find.

Here's one US ad from 1958 :

model 328
model 500

...yet according to one US road-test, they call it :

My (safe) suggestion would be - 1958+ 328, at least for the US/NA market. But I'd wait for dsl's input.

Sorry but can't contribute anything useful at the moment - my books and I are 300+ miles apart.

@s13a, @dsl: thanks - I guess we'll keep them the way they are then. Until a Berkeley connoisseur maybe comes along some day...
