Two more. In '60s and '70s years Citroen DS was called in Spain "Tiburón" (Shark). |

But is this in Spain? (German title speaks of Akropolis, so I'd guess this is in Greece). |

... And the number-plate's too small for a Spanish one but about right for a Greek. I've no idea what the Greeks called the DS. |

According to the Greek wikipadia: http://www.wikipedia.gr/c/i/t/Citro%C3%ABn_DS_46e4.html it was (if I read it correctly, but I never learned Greek...): βάτραχος (= frog)... |

Well anyway it is a DS or a ID, no? We do not list cars under their nicknames (except VWs which are quite complicated for their model names) -- Last edit: 2008-05-16 22:33:49 |

Indeed they were called "Βάτραχος" which means frog. Actually few people in Greece knows their proper name. The plate though is confusing. Greek plates of the era were 6 digit number only, while this one looks like 8 digit, 2 letters and 4 numbers with a dash (-) in between, that only came into use after 1970. But this was filmed in 1967. |

Of Course, when I said "Tiburon" I only was refering its nickname in Spain at the '60s., not the model of Citroen. |

Interesting. In Germany that car is known under the name "frog" or "frogeye": /vehicle_114387-Austin-Healey-Sprite-1958.html |

No wonder why. However only well known cars get nicknames, especially in countries like Greece that are not auto-industry related. |

That sounds like a dutch plate untill this year for decades we had variations with either XX-00-XX,00-XX-XX, XX-XX-00 and so on untill this year when we switched to 00-XXX-0... doesn't look very dutch in the extra shots though -- Last edit: 2008-06-25 01:40:25 |

I'd say Belgium built IDeal, 1962 only. |
