1978+ and there was also a 3500 version. The [SD1] was built there. |

You're right, a Continental GT is less cool then a (original) police SD1. Such cool cars. |

I don't think much of the Continental GT, it's not a real Bentley to me (whereas the Arnage is). It's also what a lot of waste-of-space famous-for-being-famous celebrities like Jade Goody and Jordan seem to buy (if you don't know who they are, that's a good thing). |

Jordan has /had a "real Bentley" - the Azure |

I have a six cylinder model, great car very fast, the so called bentley should have made it over the cliff. |

The Volkswagen Continental is rubbish its charm levels are pafetic against the simply loveble SD1 that Continental should have gone into the drink not the SD1 |

2.6 SDX, badged as a police car... 'Bastards' is written across the bonnet. something from the production designer for the police force... he may have had a fine or 2... |

As much as I like this car I wonder how those nomads in the SD1 managed to catch the Continental GT clearly driving really fast. The Rover does look swift but certainly is not anyway near the GT's speeds. BTW. Appalling film -- Last edit: 2011-07-18 21:45:09 |

Presumably the Rover isn't quite stock. Disagreed on the film, too. It was no masterpiece, but I found it to be an entertaining post-apocalyptic genre picture. |

One of my all time favorite movies, right up there with Escape from New York (which also wasn't a "masterpiece" - neither was intended to be). As for the Bentley not dusting the Rover... Eden apparently chooses to engage the car rather than out run it. As the Rover first approaches, STRIRLING: Put your foot down! SINCLAIR: I'm tired of running from these bastards. My question is where did this car come from? The Glasgowian cannibals must have found it in a museum or collection, no way a '78 jam sandwich like that was still in service in 2008 when the Reaper virus hit. A private collection may explain why it has a Norfolk Constabulary roof code (36) and that oddly American heptagram on the doors (point up with Scottish police crest in the center and what must be "Central Scotland Police" in the circle). Quite an eclectic collector/production designer. Must've been from Norfolk. -- Last edit: 2012-04-04 16:17:05 |
