Tried googling Belchers Beer but nothing found historic , looks genuine though. A few new breweries found. and the Harry Potter pub ! Maybe time travelling witchcraft ?? ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2022-12-06 09:16:58 |

The registration and the look of the vehicle’s cab and grille are indicative of Wartime production restrictions. The small headlamps, and the el-cheapo mesh grille being examples. The truck carries a London plate, maybe it was ordered and allocated by the Ministry of Supply, like, for instance a Bedford OWB. Perhaps Belcher’s beer is an in-joke. A local firm in Staffs, Sunley Transport, had a fleet of Sturdys and Sturdy Stars, some looking like this. -- Last edit: 2022-12-06 09:26:06 |

Yes you are probably right, looking closely all the Belchers Beer signs are on seperate boards attached to a normal dropside truck. -- Last edit: 2022-12-06 09:44:49 |

https://www.flickriver.com/photos/80064670@N06/50221564767/ 1945 Sturdy above. As previously said, the subject is possibly wartime “austerity” finish, but perhaps the 1943 plate is a substitute. They did seem popular with breweries. |

I agree with most of the comments. For me its appearance says its an immediately post-war Thornycroft Sturdy. The 1943 registration is unexpected here but I cannot say its impossible only that I think it unlikely. |
