No idea what MCC 600L plate means - it was a genuine issue (Caernarvonshire, Aug-Oct 72), but in this context is a fake - see also how it's tacked over the proper black rear plate. In terms of black P5Bs in the ministerial fleet on that fateful day: 1] James Callaghan started the ball rolling by going to Buckingham Palace to tender his resignation in WLX 846M 2] Thatcher was then summoned to the palace to meet the Queen and “kiss hands” to formalise the transition, and travelled in GYE 329N, a normal unprotected fleet car 3] after confirmation she was switched to the armoured PRK 421K reserved for sitting PMs for the trip to No.10; due to the extra weight, this apparently sits noticeably lower on its springs during archive footage than the other P5Bs. |

No - it's a Saloon with higher window line without rear quarterlights and no Coupe badge on boot. Ministerial P5Bs were always Saloons, also true for all P5/P5Bs in the Royal fleet - the Queen had several. |
