Just read a magazine article on this car - celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first (Consul) Cortina launch in (you guessed it) September 62. It was a brown GXL, discovered in Hull in 1998, restored and repainted with an ex-Capri 2.8 V6, 5 speed gearbox and power steering. Has a GT single bar grille (GXL had 3 shiny bars) and a black inset on the rear trim panel (which was a 74+ feature). |
