Model name or Chassis Code? ...Since the other is named Taxicab only |

It's the model name, like the more recent Checker Marathon |

Non-Marathon are listed as Taxicab model with A6/A11/etc. as code because Marathon were listed as A12. I do not know what is correct though. Maybe they should all be renamed then? -- Last edit: 2008-03-24 16:14:29 |

I'm not a Checker specialist. Checker built only taxicabs before 1960, that's why it didn't seem necessaty to add that, but it may be after 1960. Here is a link to Chcker history http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/c/checker/checker.htm |

I am a Checker specailist and own a Checker A2 and A4. The car depicted here is an A4, it has an egg crate grille and wrap around bumpers. An A6 would have had four horizontal bars across the front end instead of an egg crate grille. The A6 also has a slightly raise rear roof for better headroom. |
