Why made for J here? Econolines were not sold as exports as far as I know. This was most likely done after coming in used from US market.

Yes they were. They were relatively popular in Norway as ambulances, police vans, cargo and conversion vans back in the 80s and 90s.

They were mostly popular with conversion in Japan. (Jp-Spec fog lights, and small indicator on forth gen.)

They do have those is USA, but only on conversion vans. They were quite rare to find.
