It's not a 1972. This E12 is a 530i or 528i from 1977-1981. In 1977, they put the blinkers on the fenders, changed the hood and kidney grille a bit, used wider tail-lights, and put the gas tank filler on the right quarter panel (vs. next to the license plate). |

It's a `77. `77 was the first model year which the US had this face-lift. Who keeps insisting it's a `76? US models are not the same as Euro models. See my previous comment. |

I guess that's Ralph that sets the Euro years on the BMWs? Or did we miss your previous comment? |

You corrected it before, thanks. But someone changed it back to `76. (like a battle between Euro spec. and US spec. models) - by the way, speaking of US E12 5-series history, another source of mine confirmed 1975 was the first year the E12 530i was sold in the US. - Currently this car above has the correct information, "1977 E12" - from this view it could be either a 528i or 530i. Note that it has NO passenger rear-view mirror (usually indicates it's one of the older versions). |

I saw this episode; this is a 530i. |

Interesting there to see the X Files have shown this old car in their series back then. It was indeed nostalgic to see all the things that are there before are still shown here. I hope that somehow it would still be revived by now. -- Last edit: 2011-02-12 01:47:41 |
