1977 Jaguar XJC 6 4,2 L Convertible ( Conversion + Series III face lifted ) |

1979+ for S3. Probably chopped in Aus. Or if it's a 2-door, probably based on 1975+ XJC S2 with S3 front bits added. |

My vote goes to it being based on the XJ-C series II. There is possibly a single push-button door handle visible, as on the XJ-C, rather than any sign of the flap type handles for the series III. |

Agreed. Making an S3 into a 2-door would be a lot more difficult than sticking S3 bits onto an S2. A few folk chopped XJ-Cs, either as small batches or one-offs, so unlikely we'll find out who did this and where (UK or Aus). |

Would probably be useful to have additional views in this instance. Here's something similar: Link to "www.shannons.com.au" -- Last edit: 2019-08-18 14:59:56 |

^ Additional views concentrating more on the side would be good, yes. Modifying the XJ-C 'pillar-less' design would give the conversion a head start as all body below the belt-line and the moving glasses are unchanged. Therefore sealing against either the fixed roof of the coupe or the convertible's folding roof would be almost the same. All the glasses on the XJ-C were multi-adjustable with the complex monkey-climb guidance system unlike the simpler saloon's glasses running in conventional channels. |

No obvious match in this list of known examples of XJ-C convertibles worldwide, including quite a few in Aus. |
