No trace of YOB 943J now, but 944J was a June 71 Triumph 2000; a Birmingham plate would fit for a Dunlop tyre test hack. Some strange features - don't think I've ever seen a UK Capri in ultra-poverty spec without the dummy side vents. And it has the 3-litre humped bonnet - both the 3000 GT and 3000E came with lots of shiny trim and bits, not plain Jane as here. They also had twin-pipe exhaust - can't see clearly enough in 2nd thumb what the format is here. Side badge might have red tinge to match 3000E (but nothing else does), 3000 GT was mostly black, plain silver was non-GT only. Off the wall thought to explain the bonnet - is this a Ferguson 4wd prototype based on a lesser Capri?? Dunlop also developed their anti-lock braking alongside the Ferguson 4wd package, so possible linkages. |
