It's a 1990 model year car ( by the bumpers ).

In 1990 these wheels were only available on the GT/GTD, which had the lower-trim bumpers. Perhaps some Italian special edition?

I'm quite puzzled by this one, I've been researching a bit and:
for 1990MY we didn't get special editions and GT and GT Special trims weren't sold here. GL had the usual wheels: [Image: 27218014771_3951ab961e_o.jpg] but it seems that the catalyzed 1.6 in GL trim had the GT/GTD wheels, as appearing in a Quattroruote test (October 1989 issue, sorry for the pics, car always was pictured moving :D ):

but it anyway didn't have wheelarches..on the other hand the pictured car doesn't have a GTI side badge :??:
So without a front shot, I'm leaning towards a catalyzed 1.6 GL with wheelarches added maybe even by the dealer, as it's a 1990 movie, so too soon for a customization

Maybe Italy received the GL 1600 with standard 14-inches wheels, differently by Germany? This could explain the different rims

That's what I thought, but probably only for 1.6 (or even catalyzed 1.6). I believe 1.3 still had 13-inches wheels. Can you pull the grey one I posted to see if it's a 1.3 or a 1.6 and if it's catalyzed? I got no results.

2G corresponds to the 1300 engine, but I'm not sure which version, if the standard carburetted version, the U-Kat or the fuel-injected

The 1.3 was sold in Italy only as carburetted non-catalyzed version and fuel-injected catalyzed version, whereas the 1.6 was always carburetted, even if catalyzed. Anyway I researched a bit today, and last night I completely overlooked the fact that in Italy the GTD had the MY90 bumpers, as confirmed by this pic coming from a 2/90 test on Quattroruote:
So the above car could be a GTD or a 1.6 GL (wheelarches should point to GTD, even if I believe they were available also on the GL; tested car I posted earlier didn't have them, but they are to find quite often on GL, also in period pictures).
About the wheels, I have yet to find a picture of a period-correct/original 1.6 CL (uncommon version here, 1.6 were almost always GL) but 1.6 GL, regardless if catalyzed or not, had standard 14" wheels indeed.
For reference, after MY90 we got only one special edition (other than the runout Function), the Madison, which was only 1.6 (catalyzed or not) and had 14" wheels too, but retained the older bumpers. A nice example: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lorenzossc/18741332305

What about a GL with higher engine option? 1800 or Turbo Diesel?

We didn't get the 1.8 GL, only plain 1.8 we had (at least for MY90) was the CL Syncro, whereas for the 1.6 TD GL, I simply forgot to include it :D of course it can be, as it also had these wheels.
