Not strictly correct. The Routemaster was an AEC design, and was badged throughout its production run as an AEC, although by the time the last were built Leyland owned AEC and many Routemasters were Leyland-engined. The relationship between the RT family buses is different: the RT class was a version of the AEC Regent III built for London Transport. The RTL class was a version of the Leyland Titan PD2/1, but the body was interchangeable with that of the RT. Both these buses were 7 foot 6 inches wide; the RTW class was an 8ft wide equivalent based on the Leyland Titan PD2/3 |
