This scene was an reenactment of the Eastcastle Street Post Office Van Robbery committed by members of Billy Hill's gang on Eastcastle Street just off the Oxford Street in Westminster, Central London on the morning of the 21st May 1952.

In the real robbery, the gang used two cars to sandwiched the van and had pulled the driver and the two attendants out of van and assaulted them before driving off with van.

Of the 31 bags that were in the van, the gang took 18 bags containing £287,000 (£8,110,000 in today's value) and later dumped the van near Regent's Park.

Police investigation into the robbery revealed that van's alarm had been disabled.

The Eastcastle Robbery is considered the largest robbery to occurred in postwar Britain.

One of the robbers who took part in the robbery was Terry "Lucky Tel" Hogan who had later became part of the "Bowler Hat Gang" who were responsible for the Comet House Robbery at the BOAC Comet House near London Airport on the 27th November 1962 and was suspected to taken part in the Great Train Robbery at Bridego Bridge at Ledburn, Buckinghamshire in the early hours of the 8th August 1963.
