Possibilities - Mercedes 18/22 about 1904 or maybe contemporary Fiat or Berliet or Bianchi or any one of several others. It would be good to trace the reg number which I presume is English??

Ireland actually, but that doesn't appear to be an authentic Irish number:
Quote From 1903, the system used in Ireland was part of the original British system of identifiers. This was superseded in the Republic of Ireland in 1987, but remains in use in Northern Ireland.

Each administrative county was allocated a 2-letter code, with plates having formats "CC SSSS", "LCC SSS", "SSSS CC", "SSS LCC" or (currently in Northern Ireland) "LCC SSSS", where CC is the county code, L a sequence letter and SSS/SSSS a sequence number of up 3/4 digits. When all combinations for a county were exhausted, a new 2-letter code was allocated (chiefly to Dublin and Belfast which had the most cars). All codes contained either I or Z, to avoid clashing with other British codes. Originally, plates had white or silver letters on a black background. Later this was changed to black-on-white at the front and black-on-red at the back (black-on-yellow in Northern Ireland).

The body on this car is a 'rear entrance tonneau' as the use of chain drive and the short chasis length means there is no room for a rear door. Entrance to the back seat is by a small door in the middle of the back seat.

Had a look at this in HD and although I cannot read the logo on the radiator, I can confirm the mascot is that of a sitting animal, probably a dog or a fox. Ring any bells? jfs?

Hmm...not a match. That lion is standing on all fours, not sitting on his behind. And the hood ornament on Talbots is an ornate crest.

Problem with mascots on old cars is that many of them don’t have any relationship to the make of car, just bought because the owner fancied it on his radiator cap.

That’s why Royce’s got Miss Thornton to pose for the Spirit of Ecstacy.

If a real English plate, W was Sheffield from 1903.

Comment from forum (3rd post) to which the pic apparently belongs "...having spoken with the then-owner of the Bianchi 1906 (8-litre) touring-car that was used in "A Fistful Of Dynamite", he confirmed that the car now resides in its native Italy.
