Was the Taunus Transit or FK 1000 ever available in the UK?

No. We got a 15cwt (say 750kg) Thames van, sorry I don't know the model.

I just googled Ford Thames: model number is 400E.

IMDB lists Germany as filming location for this movie, and that van has its steering wheel at wrong side for a UK model.

I'm not acquainted with this German series, but as far as the vehicles they used are concerned it seems to have been pretty low-budget; they've made very little effort to get the motors right. Not only was the Taunus Transit never marketed in the UK, even in left-hand drive form, that registration - if it had ever been issued - would have been a Northern Ireland one. And (as I think has been noted elsewhere) those number-plates were never made in the UK.
