If I'm reading a couple of coded book references right, 1946 production was mainly or entirely 10hp only, and in small numbers as Rover were not allocated enough steel to fully resume car production. So 12hp was announced for 1946 but did not resume until 1947, and similar delays for 14hp and 16hp. This was the context which forced Rover to develop the aluminium-bodied Land Rover to build something outside these restrictions to maintain cash-flow and prevent bankruptcy by strangulation. |
