Limited trim with Eddie Bauer wheels. |
◊ 2018-12-21 17:47 |
If I recall correctly there was no Eddie Bauer trim over here, instead it was called the North Face Edition. |

Thanks for that tidbit of information! Had no idea Eddie Bauer was American trim only? Wonder if Canada received it? Wish Baube was still active as he may shed some light. |

Canada did receive the Eddie Bauer trim as there are a ton of them for sale on Kijiji (the Canadian version of Craiglist). I don't know if Mexico got it or not. ![]() Also, this Purple Metallic color, called Desert Violet Pearl by Ford (at least here in the U.S.), seems to be popular on the Euro Explorers, it wasn't very common for the domestic models. -- Last edit: 2018-12-21 19:10:19 |

Turns out North Face was actually the European version of the Limited, so still right. |
◊ 2019-04-03 19:17 |
Is it called 'North Face' or 'North Face Edition'? |
◊ 2019-04-03 19:18 |
North Face. And it's rather a trim line than a special edition. |

Fixed. Here is a little article saying there weren't many sold there at all: https://www.carkeys.co.uk/car-reviews/ford-explorer-north-face -- Last edit: 2019-04-03 19:23:05 |

I don't think this can be a North Face edition, that version didn't come until later here, looked different and (as far as I can tell - there's certainly nothing on non-UK sites about it) was only offered in the UK. |

But this is Russia. Anything vehicular is possible! (although this one is LHD) I'm not really getting the VIN: Year digits on Fords should be 11th and 12th digit, but U isn't used in a VIN. T would fit 1996, and C should be the month: 1FMDU34X8TUC69130 -- Last edit: 2019-04-03 19:47:42 |

Even if it is a UK car, the North Face version didn't come until 2000, and had a different front bumper and wheels: /vehicle_746426-Ford-Explorer-UN150-2000.html so it is distinctly impossible for this to be one. |

@Gamer, T would be 1996, U is the plant in Louisville, KY, while the C is actually part of the serial number For German Fords, positions 11 and 12 tell us the year and month. No month indicator in US VINs Delete North Face info? |

Here is the breakdown: https://vindecoder.eu/international You have to pay to use that site but the guideline for the VIN breakdown is directly below the field to enter the VIN. So the digits in the VIN sequence are 10 is Model Year and 11 is plant code. |

As a standard, yes. For US vehicles this is the system indeed. As for the car in question. Alas, several European and Japanese manufacturers (and more, yes) use their own standards, I'm afraid (and usually given a new VIN series of their own when exported to the US) |

Thank you for that information. See I learn new things every day ![]() |

J-spec import Limited due bumper, grille and color. |
◊ 2025-06-07 14:10 |
^ it is LHD. Not a J spec. |
◊ 2025-06-07 14:30 |
But 1995-96 it was still LHD for J, RHD starts in late 1996 for 1997 MY, not earlier. -- Last edit: 2025-06-07 14:34:41 |
◊ 2025-06-07 14:47 |
What prompted you to claim this is a J spec? |

It has those rain deflectors that you often see on Japanese imports. I haven't seen them on EU imports yet. I could be wrong, and someone might say something different. I'm sticking with the theory, though. I can't prove it, so I'd leave it as it is. |
