No other shots of this one, a prominent politician is in it when it blows up but all we see is stock footage of an explosion. |

I just looked at the scene in the movie and during the whole shot, the car is 95% obscured by the fire. ^^' |

I tried my best to figure this thing out. I think the explosion is stock footage originally filmed for the 1987 film "Malone", possibly making the exploding car a Ford LTD-S. Of course, this is partly a wild guess, so don't quote me on that. Producers' Library Service, which director David Giancola often went to for stock footage, has a few shots of the Malone car explosion available for preview, but some others, while in stock, can't be previewed, so I can't make sure. They also have shots of a huge barn explosion from Malone, which was also pulled and used in this movie. -- Last edit: 2022-12-09 05:20:30 |

^ Scratch that. The exploding car is a 1979 Ford Thunderbird, from "Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD". For Giancola's previous movie, "Diamond Run", Troma had given him some footage of explosions from their movies, including the exploding wrecked T-Bird from Kabukiman. This exact shot is from the climax of Kabukiman, where that small bit of close-up footage of the exploding car was inserted into a sequence where the main villain is blown up. -- Last edit: 2023-08-01 01:40:15 |
