If I'm not mistaken, all 2003-2006/7 models, including non-HD ones, have the same front face (taking the 2005 grille change into account too)? Truck_Guy ◊ 2017-03-18 11:40	I know the GMC HD's have a significantly larger gap than the 1500's, I'm pretty sure the Chevrolet's do too. The HD's larger frame causes the gap. Even if I'm wrong about the frame gap, it's still an '06+ because of the other evidence I have cited. The 1500HD wouldn't have gotten the new front end until 2006 with the other 1500 models as well.
eLMeR ◊ 2017-03-18 15:43	My bad, the light-duty models gained indeed that grille in 2006 only. Which means only 3500s had it in 2005: GM Media online wrote New front-end appearance for 1500/1500HD/2500HD models: All 2006 Silverado 1500, 1500HD and 2500HD models have a new front-end appearance, with a revised grille design and a new, power dome hood. A prominent gold bowtie is centered on a new, dual-port grille design, while the power dome hood – a design borrowed from Silverado 3500 models – conveys strength. The new front end has a refined look, with a body-color bumper top cap, while the power dome hood gives all Silverado models a strong, cohesive appearance. (Excerpt of a 2006 Chevrolet press release - Pdf) To be honest, GM is not really clear about it: 2500 HD / 2500HD models -both writings are used- appear in the light-duty and in the heavy-duty model lineups, in the first linked page (GM Media online) This pickup has the PY0 wheel rims, used both by the 1500HD and the 2500HD.
