just curious : what is the difference between a 1307 and a 1308 ? |

engine, it seems. We could list it as 1307 by default, I suppose, as there will probably won't be clues for further identification |

The engine's french fiscal horsepower rating. 7 CV for the 1307, 8 CV for the 1308. The kind of name that made no sense at all outside of France. |

The 1307 had 1294cc and various lower/mid range trim levels, with the 1308 getting 1442cc and there was even a 1309 with 1592cc all in posher and/or sportier trims; therefore if you can identify the version, the 1307/1308/1309 split usually falls into place. Sweden uniquely decided its 1308 should be renamed 1508. In Britain, we couldn't be bothered with all this, so just called everything Alpine with whatever engine. Spain went further and only used the 1442cc engine so that they could keep everything with 150 name. Not really much evidence left on this one to pick it apart .... it does seem to have had plated window trim, but we can probably move safely on in the circumstances. |

How do you know so much about Simcas? |

Because I know about the Alpines and can translate across. And because I watch Weasel's painstaking efforts closely - he's the Grand Master. ![]() |

Ok. But a car with one of the saddest reputations, my neighbour says it used to rain inside hers. |

Must have been French-built then. It never rained inside Ryton-built Alpines. |

As I recall you said in 2011: /vehicle_429868-Chrysler-Alpine-C6-1978.html Old comments will come back to haunt. |

I liked that car when I was kid... mostly because of the 1308 Majorette model (I also had one from Norev Jetcar) |
