Big side windows from August -64, so it´s a 1965 VW 1200 or possibly a a 1966 VW 1300, but it´s hard to be sure of these hubcaps. |

The bodychange was for 1965 models, in august -64. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/74whatyearisit/page4.jpg VW changed the serialnumbers at the same time, third digit gives the modelyear, 115 for 1965, 116 for 1966 etc. If your friends car has got a serialnumber in the old system it has probably had the body replaced during it´s lifetime. It´s fairly easy on these. |

@5503: not all changed details and facelifts were made for the new model year, which means at Volkswagen, in the summer vacations, where the production is stopped. Uncountable many details were changed during the running production. The only help is, to look in the official VW-spare parts catalogue. There is remarked the VIN-number of the first car with that specific item |
