According to IMDB, they built 5 cars and destroyed 2.
I wonder why they needed 5 of them for the few minutes where the car is used...

Pretty cool, shame it crashed. Also, what is with these year one number plates? they were on 2fast 2furious cars too....

TEARSoftheSUN

◊ 2006-07-24 02:48

they put the year one plates on the cars because in prepurduction when they built them they got the parts from year one for free advetisment

..so we can assume 'Year One' is a Parts/sales/repair company.? (not known in Europe,UK.?)

◊ 2006-07-24 03:46

Yes stonghold, but it seems like parts/repair service espically for muscle cars, so thats why they are unheard of in Europe!

Basically Year One is one of the biggest supplied or muscle car parts. http://www.yearone.com/ for more info.

the reason they need 5 cars was because 1 was for the jump, 1 was for the crash, 1 for the build sequence, 1 for the driving, and 1 as the hero car.

A few of the cars were 1968 Pontiac Lemans' with 1969 parts and doors.

Here is one of the cars used during filming and the jump scenes. We sold it shortly after the movie was released.

I personally love The Judge, but this GTO looks so badass! Frank should've had gotten bulletproof windows with tint instead of these sliding shields. Well, at least he kept the Satellite after he got this GTO totaled

this was my car years ago, one of the stunt cars that is , mine was the bridge car. it was a 69 custom s not a real gto. the hood was a steel gto hood w/ tach and the front bumper is steel also. the hero car was painted to match my old car and was a real gto. the production company liked my flat black paint and kept it as is , most of my rides back then ended up flat black , covers alot of blems. rear springs were cut caddy springs and fronts were cut el caminos (stunt car). a 350 poncho with a 4bbl. they got it from an impound lot after i sold it to a guy and he never tagged it , he bailed out on a drug deal and the TPD got it. they comtacted me and i let the prod co have it. i have no pics of it now as my ex wife still has them. it was a fun car though.

Okay now the true story on all 5 pontiacs used in this movie. I personally sold them 3. One was an original motor 4 speed gto. The second was an original motor auto car. The 3rd was a 68 shell with a red fender was a 68 le mans. The 4th car was also a 68 le mans. It was the bridge car. The 5th car was a 69 gto unorigial motor auto. I bought 3 of the cars back after production. One car the crash seen was junked with all parts removed. I sold the other 2 on e bay. The jump car was undrivable after the jump. Frame bent. And i can prove all of it.

Terry.gto can you tell me if you bought back the 69 GTO that was the bridge burn out 3 speed car after the production? I would like more information on it if you did and/or have it.

I own the original screen used Interior Hero car / exterior shootout car. It’s one out of five cars build for the movie and only one of two who survived.

Yes, I did an interview earlier this year and the story just got published. I bought the car at an auction last year in Munich. Currently try to figure out how to bring in back to the states and bring it to car shows.
