Can you please qualify. According to source I am using, there was a Fairlane 500 Series and a separate Galaxie 500 Series |

Qualify for what? You mean clarify? There was the vanilla Fairlane 500 series which used the roofline from the original 1957 model with the slim C-pillar, and the more expensive Galaxie series which used the roofline similar to that of the Thunderbird hardtop, with a wide c-pillar. The Galaxie also had a script on the rear fins saying Galaxie, but retained 'Fairlane 500' badging on the trunk, so it was essentially part of the Fairlane 500 line. I'd like to know what source you have as there was no 'Galaxie 500' until the 1962 model year. |

And what, you're just going to ignore the Fairlane 500 decklid badging visible right there on the front cover? The Galaxie was of course not advertised as such, but you can put two and two together can't you? Similar case with the 1958 Chevy Impala - it was referred to as Chevrolet Bel Air Impala in the brochures but carried no Bel Air badging in reality. I will not bore you with more things that can inevitably confuse you, but here's another anecdote: as the 1959 Ford Galaxie was a mid-year addition, the early Sunliners/Skyliners were badged as Fairlane 500, while later ones were badged as Fairlane 500 Galaxie. The only difference between them is the fin script: Fairlane 500 - Fairlane 500 Galaxie. -- Last edit: 2022-11-12 12:14:04 |
