actually MAN-Saviem schwerer Hauber simply badged as Saviem imported from Germany /vehicles_make-MAN-Saviem.html /vehicle_50530-Saviem-19240.html there were no faciliteis to produce this heavy MAN in France while some of the lighter Saviem were kits made in Germany -- Last edit: 2015-08-06 13:49:46 |

this is great, kegare! as this technical fiche proves the pre 1969 nomenclature of MAN was still used for Saviem in 1974 it is a two axle so no 15.215 and the name of the brand should be Saviem-MAN ? -- Last edit: 2015-08-06 14:03:46 |

1970+ Saviem SMH-Series (1), part of the 1964-82 commercial agreement (2) between M.A.N. and Saviem. The Revue Technique shown by kegare (for the 1975 model year) is not part of Saviem's official literature, as it is made from an independent company. Except for the 1968-69 models (with the old front face) which were apparently advertised as Saviem-M.A.N. H-Series, these trucks were only sold as Saviem trucks, not as M.A.N.-Saviem ones (3). From what I understand, this name seems just to be a (wrong) French habit due to the small MAN logo visible on the grille of the trucks... This said, the M.A.N. nomenclature was indeed apparently more or less followed by Saviem. (1971 brochures, from lesrenaultdepapier.fr) _____ 1: SMH for Saviem M.A.N. H, of course ![]() 2: As explained here, it was at first only for the M.A.N. engines used in the heaviest Saviem trucks. In 1967, a new agreement is signed: M.A.N. supplies cabs and engines for the Saviem heavy truck line while Saviem provides its lower duty truck line to M.A.N. 2: Same "story" for the "M.A.N.-Saviem" SG2/4, sold in Germany as "just Saviem" SG2/4 in 1967, with a red M.A.N. logo, and then as "M.A.N. only" -270/485- after. -- Last edit: 2015-08-06 20:06:12 |
