It should be LTD-S and not LTD Crown Victoria since it's a pre-'83 model. |

The Crown Victoria was a trim name, part of the LTD lineup.. |

As of 1983 though. |

Your info is incorrect and this should not have been renamed. Somename already ID'd the car correctly. LTD S models were the bottom trim level from 1980-82, mainly used as a fleet car (taxi/police). They did not have vinyl landau tops (half roof). The Crown Victoria was introduced mid-1980 as a top line package for the LTD; so the trim levels were LTD S, LTD, and LTD Crown Victoria. In 1983, the LTD S and LTD trims were discontinued. -- Last edit: 2014-08-12 03:00:16 |

According to my period NADA guide book, in 1983-1985, the listings were: "LTD Crown Victoria S" and "LTD Crown Victoria". For 1986 and 1987, the listing shows "LTD Crown Victoria S", "LTD Crown Victoria" and "LTD Crown Victoria LX". So, while it is true there was no longer an "LTD S". the "S" trim apparently continued under the "LTD Crown Victoria" name. -- Last edit: 2014-08-13 03:50:52 |

Isn't this simply an LTD, not an LTD Crown Victoria? |

"Crown Victoria" is correct. Note the chrome bands extending over the roof. |
