BTW-In the progression and pursuit tech trailer for Need for Speed Rivals, there is a mustang that looks exactly like the one shown here. Link to "www.youtube.com" |

Judging by how often this Mustang has been seen in the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wthVGpJkgmc), I would have to say that this car is going to get a 5-star "This vehicle is part of the movie" rating. |

It's a 2014 Mustang GT, not a GT500. |
◊ 2013-11-20 19:56 |
a toy on the last thumbnail? |
◊ 2013-11-21 00:59 |
Is it really a Ford Shelby GT 500 SVT? Or a regular Mustang/Mustang GT made to look like one? |

I saw that the license plate is a New York plate. That's my home-state. But the picutre of the Mustang in mid-air, and drifting around that circle while being followed by the police car made me wornder: Is that Albany, NY that they were in when shooting those scenes? |

I don't know... it doesn't look very real, but I think that computer generated images are more common now. Well, they maybe still use toys in very low budget movies. At the ending of this trailer you can see this shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_5t589hePA |

Detroit, MI, actually. Note the Comerica Park/Ford Field sign. Also, Wikipedia lists Detroit as the most recent filming site. |
◊ 2013-11-21 21:21 |
Oh. I didn't know about the info on Wikipedia until you told me. And about the Comercia sign, I actually did notice it, but it looked blurry. Before you ask about why I asked about the city despite the sign, I just didn't know about the city part. |

If they used this ride insted then this would be the best movie ever /vehicle_223265-Fleetwood-Bounder-1986.html |

This car is playable in Need for Speed Rivals. The car is called "NFS Movie Hero Car." I think it's safe to say this will be a 5 star car. And, in reference to the thumbnail: holy crap that helicopter is ancient! -- Last edit: 2014-02-01 00:28:45 |

Looks like CGI, and not really well done CGI too |
◊ 2014-03-16 02:21 |
It isn't a normal Mustang GT. It's a one time only collaboration between Ford and Caroll Shelby. |
◊ 2014-03-18 18:43 |
They did say that they didn't use any CGI in the movie and that it was all really done. |
◊ 2014-03-18 22:04 |
This is actually a replica. Ford purists will be offended to know that it's actually a Chevy LS3 V8 under the hood. |
◊ 2014-03-21 02:02 |
4 stars |
◊ 2014-03-21 08:14 |
5 stars. This is the car that started it all. Almost 50% of the car scenes in the movie focus on this car, that is until its sad demise. Plus, its the car that appears on the covers, the adds and all the commercials. |
◊ 2014-03-22 02:03 |
I agree. Definitely 5 stars. |
◊ 2014-03-30 18:29 |
Yes, it should have 5 stars definitely. |

A fake Mustang with a Chevy engine |
◊ 2014-04-24 20:58 |
it looks more like part 2013 ford mustang (front) and part 2015 mustang (rear) |
◊ 2014-04-26 12:06 |
I think it's a real Mustang, as it looks like there is Ford product placement in this movie. I think this one is a fictional version of the mustang. In the movie they say it was a special edition Carroll Shelby was working on when he died. I don't know if it actually exists, and if it does, I don't think it would be used in action scenes for a movie. |

Its not a replica dudes! Its a one-off custom built Shelby Mustang GT. At no point did anyone say that it was a replica. |
◊ 2014-07-17 17:32 |
It is probably a real one provided by Ford indeed, but they may have made replicas for the movie to spare some money. Now is a replica made by the car maker itself still counts as a replica? |
◊ 2014-07-18 04:43 |
Game-oholic: the scenes set in New York were filmed in Georgia. |
◊ 2014-07-18 16:36 |
Exactly. It was custom made for the movie first and then the replicas were made, just like for the other cars like the Ageras an, the Sesto etc. That doesn't mean it was a replica in the first place. |

The rings around the fog lights are they CCFL or what are they? They're really bright and looking to get them for my car. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated. |

There were four working Mustangs made for the movie, two of with survived. Among those who "died" was one with lifted suspension, used for the offroad chase. The one on the linked picture is owned by a private person, I haven't been able to find out where the other one ended up. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a9/NFS-Mustang.jpg There was also a not driveable mock-up used for the helicopter-scenes, as any normal car would be totally destroyed from the damage inflicted by hanging it from a helicopter. In addition to that there was a normal Mustang with the interior of the hero-car which, strapped to a semi-tailer, was used to film the characters in the car while driving and on a greenscreen for the scenes while it's hanging from the helicopter. With all that, the Mustang was the only supercar where there was more than two on set (having the Bugatti and a Bugatti-shell there). |

It's freaking awesome! Mustangs are one of my dream cars |
◊ 2015-08-11 02:08 |
Looks like 2015 taillights with a 13' front end? |
◊ 2015-10-31 13:19 |
Actually, two Mustangs are real GT500s, the rest are either normal Mustangs or shells. They were all provided by Ford. The two GT500s used the 5.8 liter SVT engine whcih were 632 hp. |

Is it white or silver!? Looks whit win some scenes and silver in others so which is it?! |
◊ 2019-06-02 19:54 |
It's silver. This is easier to see in the movie itself than in screenshots. |

The story of it being the last car Carroll Shelby worked on is completely fictitious. To my knowledge, none of the Mustangs used in filming were actual Shelbys (and, in fact, real Shelbys have the Cobra logo instead of the Mustang logo on the grille and steering wheel). Most of the filming cars were base model V6 Mustangs dressed up to resemble the fictional one-off GT500. And no, it was not an LS powered replica - the Koenigseggs and other supercars were, but the Mustangs were just Mustangs. -- Last edit: 2022-11-15 13:19:37 |
