3KZV965 doesn't show up on Carfax or bar.ca.gov, but '3K' prefix would signal 1995 model year. Vehicle ID square is on a 1987-1992 model. |

the one in the square is also a coupe... i don't know for the plate. i mean, if i was in California in 1995 and i just bought a used 1993 one, would i get a new plate if i didn't had any before ? /vehicle_34959-BMW-2002-1974.html has a nice view of the LeBaron coupe which is not listed , moving the square to the convertible |

If it had sat unsold for 2 years you would get a new plate. |

Yes. In California the plate stays with the car for most likely the life of the car. Examples of it not staying would be If I had a personalized plate or a disabled driver plate. Once you take ownership it could stay on there to the end of the car's life. You could change it to a personalized plate of your choosing or you could move out of state or country, etc. |

If you are buying from a dealer, either it will still have the original plate or they will make you get a new one. Usually depends on who is selling, my car was used when I bought it from a dealer and it still has it's original plate from 2000. |
