I was thinking about a '71-'73 Corolla Levin or Sprinter Trueno. |

Definatley Levin. It was a more common car, thus would be more available to filmmakers |

I always wondered where the name for this model came from. There was a motor racing circuit at Levin in NZ in the 1960s and, with the penchant some makers had for naming their cars for race circuits (eg Maserati), I have thought it was named for the Levin circuit but never had it confirmed. -- Last edit: 2011-04-09 11:29:27 |

I always wondered about having virtually same car with two different names. |

Nightrider, Sprinter was a brand that Toyota established many years ago to give them another outlet for their cars. They are all variations of Corollas, but usually a little better equipped and sold by a different chain of dealers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Sprinter |

I realize that but I can't get sense of it. Especially when it came to Sprinter Marino and Corolla Ceres. Damn, it's same car! |

That is badge engineering for you. Chrysler did it from 1935 on. BMC did it in the 1960s. No doubt there are many other examples. We see many odd ones here in NZ - JDM imports - like Toyota Starlets badged as Daihatsus and Daihatsu Sirions with Toyota badges - Land Rover Discoveries (I think) badged as Honda Crossroads - 1990s era Chevrolet Cavaliers badged as Toyota Cavaliers - there are many more. |

Yes, in NZ you can see a much bigger varietys of cars than in many other countries. A good place for car-spotters ![]() |
