City in NZ. We didn't see the Jazz nameplate until just a few years ago. The yellow one has an MD series plate suggesting about 1985, whereas the silver/blue on is LY series - probably 1984. A very popular model here but as most got used for town running there wore out their cam 'bearings' very early - there were no cam bearings, the cam ran in the alloy head and relied on very frequent oil changes to survive. -- Last edit: 2011-02-04 21:22:00 |

Not usable crap With such a model my friend and me had shown a real slapstick-histronics, even in NZ, at Rent-A-Wreck in Auckland in April 1998. We did nothing more that trying to enter the car and drive with it - no chance! It was not possible for me (1.89m, back then less than 100kg, not 110 kg like today) to enter the driver's seat and put the feet on the pedals. And my friend (1.90m, 145kg) could not take a seat on the passenger's side. Fortunately noone has filmed that scene... We went back to the office and got that car: http://img703.imageshack.us/i/img3681c.jpg/ (and strong enough for the RO 80-chasing ) |

Your friend sounds pretty big! This is only a tiny city car anyway, OK for small or medium-sized people but not two big men (actually I'm just a couple of cm shorter and 10 kg lighter than you) -- Last edit: 2011-02-04 21:52:59 |
