 No it´s widely used in sales, but this would be a 1979 since the film was shown in January -79 for the first time according to IMDb.

All the other 1100 Special are 1980 models, could this be something else? Or was it introduced earlier?

 Mini 1100 Special is much older.

I think it was introduced in 1976 as a 1977 model by BL in order to add a more luxuous model in their range after the end of Innocenti's Mini (replaced by 90 and 120)

 It has the exact details of 1100 Special, with these fake alloy rims (plastic hubcaps looking like alloy), black vinyl roof..I bought mine in 1981 though, but I think 1100 Special was launched for 1980 YM, but maybe before?

 A ma connaissance, c'est bien 1977-1981.

Leyland avait perdu sa filiale italienne, récupérée par De Tomaso et n'avait rien de mieux que les 1000. La 1100 devait occuper le creneau des Innoncenti plus cossues.

Des 1100 Special produites à Seneffe en Belgique pour le marché français, le modèle s'arrêtera avec la fermeture de l'usine de la province de Hainaut.

 All 1100 Special were built at Seneffe (Belgium) - there was no UK build.
