Picture found on Allociné, there were better views of the car in the movie. The car is very well done, very realistic, including the dashboard etc. -- Last edit: 2009-06-07 21:29:22 |

Its was given the 2006+ tail lamps, so it must have been modeled after a much newer 2006 model New Beetle. |

ingo, are you thinking of SEK Studio? IIRC there's a rumour that they did contract work on traditional animated films for Disney (not 3D computer graphics), and there have been claims that North Korean animators went to China to work on US projects. |

Yes, I mean these studios. As I've read recently in North Korea-traveller's books (I really would like to travel there, no kidding), that they are quite big in this business. They have also named the movies, they were involved. Right now I remember, that "Pocahontas" was partly made in North Korea. |

By the way, did you know that the Pyongyang Metro uses old U-Bahn trains from Berlin? There are also trams bought secondhand from Leipzig, Dresden and Magdeburg. |

Yes, I read about that - and that often there are no people in the U-Bahn, when Western tourists are coming there. Same with factories and plants, which are open for Western visitors. No production at all. |

They made the car look realistic. Like the other vehicles shown in this film. |

Coraline isn't CGI... well, sort of. Every single prop was made using 3D printers and the whole movie was shot using stop motion techniques, so there's no need for North Korean slave labor. You gotta love the attention to detail that went into this movie... I only hope they didn't just buy all the models from some random 3D model shop online, not because they're bad or anything, but that would mean they weren't the ones going the extra mile to model a small car stereo on a 30 cm prop. |

Are you sure you're not getting it mixed up with North Korea's "Pocahontas: Princess of the American Indians"?... (That movie has a very disturbing torture scene, if you value your chest don't look it up) |
