They specifically said in several episodes of season 2 that this is a 1989. Weather or not it actually is in real life, I'll leave to the pros. It gets shot up pretty bad and is replaced by an old red Tercel wagon that Jesse buys on the cheap. |

It cannot be a 1989 becuase this Monte Carlo was discontinued after 1988. |

There was some discussion on the IMDb forums about the fact that it was called an '89, but a style discontinued after '88. I thought it was a later model, like an '87 or '88, rather than an '82. -- Last edit: 2009-05-03 01:22:58 |

Composite headlight were available in standard Chevrolet Monte Carlo after 1987 model year. Comments? |

Yesh but this doesn't have composite headlights. It's more like a '81-'83 or so. |

I dont get why Jesse drops the car after it was tracked down in the shootout with Tuco. New rear windshield, new backlights, new trunk and the car would be good as new ![]() |

You reply just when I finally see the episode 3.05 ![]() (which contains flashbacks indeed - though that I didn't notice the car but I am not very attentive to cars in this series, since it was already completed) -- Last edit: 2013-07-29 17:52:47 |

Okay, I know 82-83 is practically the same thing but what differentiates the 82 from the 83… because I always thought this was the 83 and was curious what led to the conclusion of it being one over the other |

The grille pattern. 1981 has 6 boxes across x 3 high, 1982 is 12 x 3, and the 1983-1986 pattern is 8 x 3. The thumbnails show the 12x3 pattern of 1982. |
