They specifically said in several episodes of season 2 that this is a 1989. Weather or not it actually is in real life, I'll leave to the pros. It gets shot up pretty bad and is replaced by an old red Tercel wagon that Jesse buys on the cheap.

It cannot be a 1989 becuase this Monte Carlo was discontinued after 1988.

There was some discussion on the IMDb forums about the fact that it was called an '89, but a style discontinued after '88. I thought it was a later model, like an '87 or '88, rather than an '82.

Yesh but this doesn't have composite headlights. It's more like a '81-'83 or so.

I dont get why Jesse drops the car after it was tracked down in the shootout with Tuco. New rear windshield, new backlights, new trunk and the car would be good as new :??:

Yup. A flashback scene.

You reply just when I finally see the episode 3.05
(which contains flashbacks indeed - though that I didn't notice the car but I am not very attentive to cars in this series, since it was already completed)

Jesse Pinkman's Monte Carlo had a key role in Breaking Bad, and now the 1982 Chevrolet can be yours.

The last time you saw Jesse Pinkman's Monte Carlo, it was jumping up and down on its crazy hydraulic system and shielding Tuco Salamanca from Hank Schrader.

But that crazy hydraulic system was also Tuco's end: When the car moved lower, Hank was able to shoot the bad guy.

This is the actual red Monte Carlo used in the show.

Getting in the way of Hank and Tuco will do a number on a car, and the Chevrolet got pretty badly beaten up. It's not really drivable. The hood and trunk latches are bad, all door and window seals are bad, and the paint is faded.

Oh yeah, the hydraulic system. It's non-functional.

This is the car that sported a gold fist in the rear window, and was pivotal in the show.

It needs work and is sold as-is.

Breaking Bad fans are going to want Jesse's car.

Okay, I know 82-83 is practically the same thing but what differentiates the 82 from the 83… because I always thought this was the 83 and was curious what led to the conclusion of it being one over the other

The grille pattern. 1981 has 6 boxes across x 3 high, 1982 is 12 x 3, and the 1983-1986 pattern is 8 x 3. The thumbnails show the 12x3 pattern of 1982.
