I am going to say this is a late 70s Plymouth Horizon. |

1978 was the first year |

The design of this car was heavily influenced by the first gen Golf/Rabit. The engine was from the VW, though slightly enlarged. Was anything else bought from VW? |

Yes, the engine...I think it was a 1.7L version of the one in the contemporary Rabbit. |

1.7L compared to the Rabbit's 1.6L? |
◊ 2008-01-10 04:41 |
Yeah, I think that's right but remember that the Rabbit's engine went down in size in 1980 to 1.5 liter (I believe that year only) for U.S. emission regulations. |

In Europe , the engine was a Simca/Talbot 1,3 and 1,5 L |

And if I'm not wrong this car was designed in France by Simca Poissy |

I think it's more a Rootes England development. |

The slightly similar rear wheel drive Chrysler Sunbeam was a Rootes thing indeed, but the Horizon has its roots in France... |
