It would be worth a lot today. |

With all that gold paint and the rear spoiler, I'd agree with Ddey65: it's one of the 912 built 1969 Hurst/Olds 4-4-2 coupes. |

Very true on ALL counts!!! One of the most valuable (and cloned!!!) Oldsmobiles you can have!!! |

Looks like 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass with Hurst/Olds trim package. This can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Hurst/Olds |

But here they say that the 1968 version had silver and black paint, which was changed to gold and white in 1969... |

As "Hurst/Olds" seems to have been used as model name, that one should be called like that I suppose: /vehicle.php?id=104578 ? (currently "Cutlass Calais" with "Hurst/Olds" as extra info) |

Good question, Antoine... According to my info, the 1983 model was officially listed as it has been done in this site. But for the 1969 model my catalogue lists it as follows: 4-4-2 (wb 112.0)* 34467 conv cpe 4.295 34477 Sports Coupe 2.475 34487 Holiday htp cpe 19.586 *4-4-2 production includes 914 Hurst/Olds models (2 convertibles) So I wonder if the Hurst/Olds models might have been normal production cars that were tuned and partially rebuilt before they were sold? Maybe something like RUF did with Porsches or Lotus with Cortinas? |

The 1968 & 1969 Hurst Olds was built by an outside company called Demmer Mfg. Olds shipped complete cars to them, and they "rebuilt" them into these cars. This was due to it's 455 engine, which was NOT available in the 442 until 1970! (*)(The "400 cubic inch" rule GM had for the intermediate cars ie; Cutlass,Chevelle,Tempest etc)This is a very rare and very desirable car. (*)It is rumored Olds actually did install the 455's into these cars as they were built, and only these 442's,as they were due to be converted into these Hurst/Olds's per the work order.(Also: The 2 conv's were special builds. One was for George Hurst, the other one was for "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter",Linda Vaughn.) -- Last edit: 2007-07-25 01:48:54 |
