I think it's actually a Buick Century ![]() |

The tailights appear to be of a Celebrity, not sure though. |

Yeah, I'll go with that. Not that it really matters. Like the Plodge Gran Fifthlomats, these GM CelCenCiera 6000's are pretty much the same. |

Buick Century These wheels were standard on the Century T/Type and available on the other Century models. Link to "memimage.cardomain.net" |

What about this Celebrity, doesn't it have the same wheels as in the above car? Link to "upload.wikimedia.org" Talking about Buick Centuries brings up memories, my parents had a mid-eighties white one when I was growing up, and I partially wrecked it when I was about a year old (don't ask how). It had different wheels than this one, but I do realize it was probably just one of the variations of wheels GM offered for the car. |

do we have pics of the tail lights? here is some good ASCII art for all you nerds out there: use fixed-width font <div style="font-family: monospace"> Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra 83-89 __________________ [ ]|__________|[ ] trunk/tail lights (one one each side) ======LICPLT====== lic plate on bumper ------------------ Buick Century __________________ ------------------ trunk/wraparound tail lights (single piece component) ------LICPLT------ lic plate centered on wraparound tail light (not on bumper) ================== bumper ------------------ Chevrolet Celebrity __________________ six square tail lights (3 each side of lic plate) [][][]LICPLT[][][] blank bumper ================== ------------------ </div> I don't remember the 6000s though. they seem to have part of the outer tail light wrap around the quarter panel in a triangle shape If you ever get bored identify these: http://www.ypsidixit.com/blog/archives/cars.jpg (74-76 Chevy upper right in maroon) |

Wow 58roadmaster, that is very creative. ![]() |

It's a Century for sure. The arches above the wheel well are "thicker" than that on a Celebrity. Year puts it around 1982 to 1988. Century: ![]() Celebrity: ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-03-31 07:15:14 |

My first car was an 87 'Cierra "4-banger" auto, with "keyless entry," that means I kicked a hole in the driver's side door due to rust and my being locked out. On these cars there is a bar that runs parallel to the ground inside the door that is somehow part of the latch mechanism. If you pull it toward the front of the car, it unlocks the door. I don't remember that rust spot being there when I bought it 6 months prior, but Minnesota puts a lot of nasty chemicals on its motorways. I'm young enough that I can still list all my cars on one page: 87 Cutlass Cierra, 86 Buick Park Avenue, 92 Dodge Dynasty (3.3L), and the love of my life, a 1998 Buick LeSabre Limited that I reserved from Kuwait while I was leaving combat operations in Iraq in 2004. This one's a keeper! I don't mean to start a My first or My favorite car thread, but it felt appropriate to just list my own. I am a dyed-in-the-wool GM fan, but I still can't get enough of late 50s Mercs and Mopars. Thanks. -- Last edit: 2007-03-31 07:13:48 |

So it is a Buick, since Pontiac was the only other GM in this body family to have wraparound tail lights on the quarter panel, and the shape of that part of the tail light shown on this car is wrong to be a 6000. And the rims are very special, I will have to ask my friends in the Buick Club of America about those. |

You are right, this Celebrity has Buick Century aluminium rims. This was the least common model of wheels, most had the steel rims with hubcaps or wire wheelcovers. The Aluminium rims were standard on the Century T/Type and were available as an option on the other models. I agree! |

I edited your message to force fixed-width font ![]() Similar but taken in the 80s in Belgium: http://antp.be/pic/casse.jpg I should try to find the picture with names that I have somewhere, as most of the car were actually identified... -- Last edit: 2007-03-31 13:22:39 |

![]() That's funny but not 100% exact! The 1984 and newer Century models (except the station wagons of course) have full width taillights and bumper-mounted rear license plate, Some Pontiac 6000 models (all the STE, later S/E and all the later models have the same kind of setup). The other (older and/or cheaper models) Pontiac 6000 models have their license plate between their taillights like the 1982-83 Century and the Celebrity. All models (1986 and newer Celebrity, 1982 and newer Century, Cutlass Ciera and 6000) had wrap around tailllights except the older 1982-85 Celebrity models. |

Thanks a lot, I was curious about the red 60s car on the right border two cars below the Monte Carlo: Chevelle?? Also the red car that you can see the most of in the lower right has what should be identifiable chrome stripes and rear pillar detail, but I wouldn't know a lot about Muscle Cars. I love this picture it is a very cool form of auto cart, interesting how many sky blue cars are in there? Thank you Antp for the edit, I remember a 6000 with Century tail light setup but I didn't have a lot to be authoritative about it. I was born when they came out, but I can spot Nash, Rambler, Hudson, DeSoto, Imperial, Packard, and Studebaker the way very few my age can! Also this one site was of some guy fixing up a bunch of 6000s and I didn't know that one of the models had a memory seat adjustment feature back then on a relatively low-end model (not Buick or Cadillac). WOW! |

It's a Century alright, but the only A-body that I know of to be officially used as a police car was the Celebrity. I guess they just chose a cheap car like the Century to wreck so that they wouldn't have to smash a more expensive and newer car. |

Maybe the studio thought the T/Type wheels looked more like law enforcement spec as well? I would hate if they smashed up a limited-edition Century T/Type! |
