I could be wrong, but I have read before that the Harts started out with a new Mercedes Benz Convetible SL--which would have been a 1979 model. I believe it was a Primrose Yellow '79 SL. Later it was updated to an '81 model. -- Last edit: 2009-10-24 04:04:07 |

As I stated a couple years ago, I think the Hart's Mercedes was a Primose Yellow 1979 Mercedes Benz 450 SL Convertible (this one pictured above?). I've researched info on this show and acquired a list of cars used in the series, and it lists the first Mercedes SL as the year and model I just stated. Later it was updated to a 1981 model. |

I knew this Mercedes was a new model for the time...glad it was finally changed to a 1979 model. .gif ":)") Apricot Orange, huh...odd color??  Apricots are not orange.  Anyway, later in the show the Harts have yellow (have read they were Primrose Yellow) Mercedes SL's. |

this one i recognize, sealed beams and telescope bumpers are typically for that period, as strange colors too the series was called "Hart aber Herzlich" here Hart but Hearty sounds like Apricot but Orange -- Last edit: 2012-09-04 02:08:49 |

Cool! Yeah, strange colors were common then. I guess Apricot is sort of a "pinkish" orange. |

Watching some episodes in first season, I think this Mercedes SL that was in the "Pilot" was the only Apricot-Orange one (if it actually was that color...the pic above looks a little blurry so the color could be distored). Starting with the first regular episode the Mercedes SL is definitely a yellow of some kind (the Primrose Yellow?)...not the Apricot color. The Harts Mercedes 300 TD Wagon looks like it might be more of an "apricot" color than the yellow SL. -- Last edit: 2012-09-05 05:53:54 |

Trying to research the Apricot-Orange Mercedes, I really couldn't find too much on that color for that car?? However, I also didn't find too much for Mercedes in the Primrose Yellow either...although there was a little. But, I found more on Mercedes Benz's from the late 70's and early 80's being a Mimosa Yellow. Looking also at the pic of the Hart's Mercedes 300 TD Wagon, you can also see the corner of their SL in the pic. I think this pic and the other look as the SL's were most likely the Mimosa Yellow...does anyone know if that would have been the yellow available for the 1979-1981 Mercedes Benz SL's? |

I had lunch with the Woman who has this car. Sylvia Gold. She was VP at ICM talent. Her husband produced Hart to Hart and they got the cars. She worked on the show as well. She also has the black Mercedes from this show as well !!! |

There was never a black Mercedes on "Hart to Hart". Now, there was a black Rolls Royce from second season on...is this the car you're thinking of? But, anyway that's cool if this lady really did get some of the cars from "H2H"...you should ask her about the colors of them, and what the true color names are. I think this yellow Mercedes SL is either Primrose Yellow or Mimosa Yellow...but I'm not sure. |

Has anyone else noticed that they kept switching between the convertible and the hardtop of the yellow 450 SL? In season 4 episode 5 they switched between them in the same driving sequence. Someone wasn't paying attention. |
