The second car that Jeremy destroys in this release is this Chevrolet Corvette, which I am sure will be controversial here ![]() In one of his most spectacular antics to date, The Corvette is driven by a computerised robot across a desert, whilst Clarkson attempts to destroy it using a helicopter gunship. It is a spectacular sight for sure, but the end destruction does pale a little bit in comparison to some of his other destruction acts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-11-23 16:33:26 |

His name was Hank: "This here is Hank - he's a computerised robot, so therefore has no soul, he likes the Corvette. So I did a deal with him. I said look mate, if you can get to the end of this lake bed without me stopping you, you can have this car!" ![]() |

With all the cars in the world to choose from, Clarkson destroys a Corvette.! (What else can you say about him ..he's a A---Hole.!) |

If this car wasn't American, Clarkson would be worshipping it. That's what I can't stand about him...he makes no attempt to hide his moronic biases. |

I think that is what people like about him, his openness. Still I can see where you are coming from. I knew from the start this would create some controversy ![]() |

You should read this article http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2000/january/83/83p4.asp Then you can come back and edit your statement. |

A friend of mine had 2 1984 Corvettes for 6 weeks total, worst cars he ever owned, everytime he closed the drivers door with the window down, the window broke, 4 windows, 6 wrecker rides "car would die for for no apparent reason" and a complete replacement Corvette "under the Lemon Law before it was law" General Motors bought the replacement Corvette back at full price. It drove like a Dump Truck too......... |

I suppose if anything, it's a little balsy to pick on the '84 'Vette, given the car it replaced. Still, I enjoy Clarkson, for all his outspokenness. I may not always agree with him, but at least he's entertaining when he's spouting off whatever viewpoint he has. As for the '84 Vette, it was a big step forward for the car, and that's when it really began to form into its current, world-class self. Perhaps not a great car, but the kind I wouldn't mind owning for a year or so, if the price was right. |

The Vette driven by Hank is completely different from the one that Clarkson actually drove, because the steering wheels are drifferent. It was probably Hank's car ![]() |

Although it wasn't the prettiest car it was very technologically advanced for its time, First car with an electronic display and pop up headlights, I cannot believe Jeremy would want to destroy this of all cars, but i agree the suspension was very bad and it did drink fuel but why would Clarkson want to wipe gas guzzlers off the face of the planet when he usually likes gas guzzlers, but I agree with him when you drive the car on some water or ice and you may end up on the wrong side of a ditch... |

What's a bit confusing is, the Corvette Clarkson is seen driving has the steering wheel from the 1990+ facelifted models but the body is from a 1984-1989 model? |
