This sequence was intended as a subtle joke, not trumpeted & not made obvious, to be appreciated by the astute 007 fan. The engine bay is being filled with the rocket array, hence no space left for the engine. VERY clever of the producers! |

But it definely the Aston Martin from "On Her Myserty Secret Service". Althought it was which replace the famous & most loved DB5 which Sean Connery drove. This was Lazenby car which it never driven at all in this. Till it got replace by the Lotus Esprit in "The Spy Who love Me". Roger Moore drove a simliar Aston Martin DBS in The Persuaders" before he got the key to the Lotus. -- Last edit: 2010-09-13 10:09:33 |

What's the red car in the background? |

Long front-hinged bonnet and screen may be E-Type Jag, S3 if tinted. |

Yes, I'd say a DBS. This brief scene was filmed at Aston-Martin headquarters in Newport Pagnell, about an hour North of the main studio Pinewood, both in Buckinghamshire, England. It's definitely not an E-Type Jaguar as the entire front end (fenders and hood/bonnet) lifts forward whereas this car just has the angular looking hood raised. I always thought this was a fantastic scene, end clever to have shot it at the factory as it would have actual equipment to build cars (engine lifts, etc.). Yes, the missles and firing mechanism always seemed so large / "where are they going to fit?", but the director Guy Hamilton had an outlandish sense of humor as seen in the Bond films he directed. It was as if he was poking fun at the series itself, and how ludicrous it would be to fit this into a standard car. The end credits of the film thank Aston Martin. |
