1947 Wolesley Oxford taxi Mk1 http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?pfwardendf.htm "....the last new "Wolseley" model to be introduced at Ward End, in February 1947, wasn't really a Wolseley at all: the Oxford taxi-cab was essentially a reworked Morris-Commercial design which had been running in prototype form since 1940; it was later joined by a private hire car and even a six-light limousine based on the same design, and remained in production until 1955,...." Although http://www.glasgowtaxisltd.co.uk/about_history.php identifies the model as a Morris (or Morris-Commercial) it appears to have been sold as Wolesley according to both austin-rover.co.uk and wikipedia.org, plus I believe an oval Wolseley badge maybe visible in the movie. ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-09-17 22:10:18 |

The right-handside thumbnail here, clearly shows the original artillery wheels as the taxi turns towards the camera and is the same cab with the 1948 plate.![]() Series I therefore. |
