Pretty ugly, not quite as ugly as the flat-out hideous Taurus (mostly the 96-99 and then the 00-05), the ones that resembled the Tempo were alright, same goes for the Sable. |

Jeremy Clarkson described the Scorpio as a trasformation from an undistinguished downmarket executive car to something resembling an extra from Finding Nemo. Clarkson may talk a lot of crap (though I love him for it) but more often than not he can be completely spot-on. And that picture of the Taurus looks uncannily like a publicity shot from that new Cars movie from Pixar. Though actually I think the 1996 Taurus (the one before the version in the picture) didn't look too bad, it had an interesting shape, the old Taurus was dull as ditchwater. I think the 80s was mostly a crappy decade for car design, just look at the boxy 80s Ford Escorts (the British version), Rovers and Vauxhall Cavaliers, Novas and Astras that can still be found littering car parks, though thankfully now a dying breed. -- Last edit: 2006-07-10 01:27:46 |

Agree, but the generation before the "ugly Taurus" was great looking, gotta love Mercury's unique light-bar grills. And as for that racist idiot Clarkson, he sounds like he never said anything positive about an American car/American company. Like others have said (see Clarkson's Top 100 Cars), Clarkson doesn't seem to know anything about American cars except the Corvetter, Thunderbird, Viper and Mustang and that he seems to fight back what he really thinks of American cars. -- Last edit: 2006-07-10 02:12:49 |

Actually I photoshopped the grille out of the picture of the Taurus and made it look like the old Plymouth Neon ads. -- Last edit: 2012-07-13 01:27:40 (G-MANN) |

![]() I loved this generation Sable, the Taurus was a little boring because it didn't have the light up grill. |

I agree with Jeremy Clarkson on many things, but I 100% completely disagree on this. I really like the 94-99 Scorpio. I think it's unique and quite elegant. I have never understood much of the negative publicity. I also like the 1996 Ford Taurus, which I think is by far the best looking 4 door saloon car that Ford USA have done. Much better looking than the conventional and dull 92-95 version. |
