This is a Mack B81SX. It has the older B-series cab with flat fenders. This style of Mack predates the DM eries. DM series had the R model cab that debuted in 1965. DM cabs were off-set to the left, B cabs were always centered on the frame. |

Why is there a commercial truck from the 60's in 1995? |

If it still works, then what's the problem? |

Pollution. |

Exactly. Besides, not all construction companies have the money to regularly replace their dump trucks. And, this is a movie, after all... |

why wouldn't you keep this b-81 on the job, it is a heavy truck with 24 inch tires and pronley 65 rears ad as long as it runs what is the big deal |

mackinac359-the R models and DM's didnt use the same cab because R models have a vent on the cab in front of the door and DM's have a vent next to the hood and above the fender |

What's bad about keeping an old truck running? I personally think it's a beautiful thing, especially in our society where everything is considered disposable and it's rare to see anything preserved, maintained, and/or restored. |

You do realize that it's just a movie right? |

Director John McTiernan bought this truck after production wrapped. |
